The spring semester of The Cable Center’s Intrapreneurship Academy is to include 19 rising stars who will participate in a future-focused development programme designed to empower the next generation of industry leaders in the US.

Launched as a pilot programme last autumn, the second Intrapreneurship Academy (TCC-IA) class will run from 17 April until 14 June, and will teach early and mid-career professionals how to undertake innovation within their companies—in the same way that entrepreneurs use innovation to launch new business concepts.

Participants in the nine-week programme represent a wide range of job functions, from communications and public affairs to software engineering, product development, M&A, sales, content development and sustainability initiatives. Their employers cover every aspect of the cable industry, including system operators (Comcast, Liberty Latin America, T-Mobile, and Liberty Global), content providers (AMC Networks), equipment providers (ARRIS) and associations (NCTA).

Through in-person and online learning opportunities, the TCC-IA class will gain knowledge and skills as they apply them to real-world projects. They will also hear from cable industry luminaries known as Innovation Laureates, who will share their insights and the lessons learned from their groundbreaking careers.

The programme culminates in a two-day Capstone event at The Cable Center, where participants will share experiences and present ideas on how their organisations can develop innovation to their company sponsors and industry leaders.

“The Academy has proven to be a successful model to advance the entrepreneurial legacy upon which the cable industry was built,” said The Cable Center’s president and CEO, Jana Henthorn. “The positive feedback we received after the pilot from participants and executives convinced us that the Academy has the potential to benefit the industry for years to come.”

The spring 2018 class of Intrapreneurs are: David Bowman, commodity manager, ARRIS; Kristin Buch, senior director public affairs, NCTA; Romeo Ngo, software engineer, NCTA; Virginia Zigras, vice president government relations, NCTA; Monica Lena Del Vecchio, regional marketing manager, Liberty Latin America; Maarten Hekking, director M & A and corp development, Liberty Latin America; Iraida Agosto, field tech supervisor/regional manager, Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico; Nicholas Lokan, manager technical product sales support, Comcast; Budd Batchelder, senior manager, EHS, Comcast; Jane Kinyua, director finance operations, Comcast; Stephen Demedis, manager employee communications, Comcast; Farhan Ahmed, principal engineer engineering operations, Comcast; Aaron Kardosh, manager customer journey, Comcast; Jake Kintzel, coordinator content partnerships, T-Mobile; Mark McClaws, manager office of the president, Liberty Global; Sarah O’Dwyer, supervisor promo planning and strategy, AMC Networks; Sarah Timoney, manager scheduling, AMC Networks; Sowon Sawyer, director scheduling, AMC Networks; and Grace Chung, manager of scheduling, AMC Networks.
